March Capital is a
top-tier venture growth firm based in Santa Monica, CA and HAS invested globally since 2014.

We have deep domain expertise in Enterprise AI, Cybersecurity, Fintech, Cloud & Data Infrastructure, and Commerce Enablement, and our focus areas will continue to evolve. March seeks out entrepreneurs with a provocative vision to lead the future, generally investing in later-stage companies poised for hyper-growth.

We are a growth-stage venture firm investing in enterprise technology companies with established product-market fit ready to scale up rapidly.

We enable inspiring founders to scale technology companies into mission-critical1 global platforms.2

  1. mission-critical: Technology offerings that are indispensable to the core function(s) of the businesses they service.
  2. global platforms: companies that have the potential to grow their services from one product and/or one vertical to a suite of products offered across business verticals.

We have built out an extensive team to support our investing, platform & marketing, capital formation, finance, and operations functions. When we invest, we invest as a team. The qualities that we uphold at our company match those we look for in our entrepreneurs and their teams—character, commitment, and capability.

March Capital is committed to partnering with exceptional entrepreneurs and teams to build great technology companies and to scale them globally.

Conviction: We invest with conviction in companies we expect to be important and successful. We believe in creating concentrated portfolios by doubling down on our investments in companies where we have the deepest conviction.

Intellectual Rigor: Our work demands accuracy, clarity, and deep thought. Our entrepreneurs and investors depend on our ability to explore ideas, create strategies, and share insights. We pay attention to details, do the work, and don’t take shortcuts. We think big in order to bring big outcomes.

Common Sense: We prefer simplicity. Our business model is simple, and although delivering top tier returns is hard, there is no reason to overcomplicate it. Our effectiveness hinges on being able to make the complex both simple and clear.

Collaboration: We work deliberately and thoughtfully and take time to listen. Internally, we work as a team, share in our successes (and failures) and collectively support the companies we invest in.

Leadership: We hold ourselves to the highest standards. We are steadfast in our belief that we have a responsibility to act with honesty and distinction. We not only lead in our community but also in our ecosystem. Our ability to build trusted and authentic relationships has enabled us to create a durable and successful firm.

Integrity: We act with courage, honor, trust, decency, and humility. We make decisions in the best interest of our portfolio entrepreneurs, investors, employees, and our community without compromising on our values.

Specializing through sector focus enables us to identify top performers in their fields, add value to our portfolio, and have the necessary experience to do so with effectiveness and conviction. When we invest, we invest as a team.

Investment Philosophy

  • Partner with inspiring entrepreneurs who we believe can scale
  • Target large market opportunities and proven product-market fit
  • Look for companies with quick time to value and the potential to become platforms
  • Maintain valuation discipline and invest with a “margin of safety”
  • Build concentrated portfolios and then “double-down” on our winners

Founded in 2004 by Jamie Montgomery, The Montgomery Summit presented by March Capital is one of the world’s premier technology conferences. Hosted at the Fairmont Miramar in Santa Monica each spring, the Summit gathers 1,000+ leading entrepreneurs, thought leaders, investment professionals, and corporate development executives who wish to have early access to breakout companies and to build meaningful relationships.

The March Capital team maximizes the value for our portfolio company executives over this two-day period by facilitating exposure and key introductions. Our founding affiliation with The Montgomery Summit provides March Capital with the ability to plug the CxOs of our portfolio companies into a network that catalyzes and accelerates their outcomes—from growth to exit.

The growth of key relationships with ASAPP, CrowdStrike, Extend, Forter, Immuta, SparkCognition, Unqork, and more can be attributed to the Summit.

Our investment strategy in India focuses on companies in our core sectors of expertise. Since our firm’s inception, we have invested in companies supporting the fast-growing digitization of India. We look for opportunities for March Capital to add significant value by supporting domestic software companies in their plans for global expansion. March Capital’s investments in BillDesk, CarTrade Tech, Uniphore, Shiprocket, and Acceldata represent market leading companies building software from India for the domestic and global markets.

March views its community involvement as similar to its engagement with portfolio companies, dedicating significant leadership and resources to a concentrated number of programs that have a measurable impact. March consciously supports organizations that “do a lot with a little” and performs extensive diligence to ensure that funds donated are utilized efficiently.

In 2020, we formalized our longstanding community engagement with the launch of the March Capital Foundation. The March Capital Foundation allocates 1% of the profit of March Capital to support a select number of programs that provide at-risk groups and the broader community with access to the innovation economy.

We have supported The People Concern, Venice Family Clinic, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, LA Metropolitan Debate League, Coalition for Responsible Community Development,, J. Paul Getty Education Programs, Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Claremont McKenna College, One Mind, St. Anne’s Family Services, and the Neighborhood Youth Association, among others.

In September 2013, March Capital’s founders, four tech industry veterans with over 50 years of collective investing experience, moved into a small office in Santa Monica with the vision for an investment platform that would back visionary entrepreneurs and provide its investors access to the innovation economy. The firm would center on enterprise, cyber, and India—a technology investment focus that was noteworthy at the time and ten years later is now seen as conventional wisdom. March Capital’s debut of $240M in 2016 made Fund I the largest first-time venture fund to launch in Southern California. March’s founding hypothesis remains that outsize returns come from private investments in the innovation economy, and there is no better sector to focus on than disruptive next-generation software.

Over the course of its 10-year history, March has established a reputation for intellectual rigor, accountability, and integrity; and is the lynchpin of a community of global, market-leading companies that come together each year at its flagship event, The Montgomery Summit. Standing firm to the founding values, emphasizing community and deep relationships, and learning and correcting quickly, March Capital has emerged as one of the leading private technology investment firms in North America.

March Capital is now a team of 30+ people, each with expertise in their field. The firm has invested in the top performing software IPOs of 2019, 2020, and 2021, and is critically positioned for the next major cycle of IPOs in 2025-2027. To date, March Capital has raised over $1.65B, backing notable technology companies such as CrowdStrike (NASDAQ: CRWD), VeloCloud (acquired by VMware), Forter, BillDesk, CarTrade Tech (BSE: CARTRADE), and KnowBe4 (NASDAQ: KNBE; acquired by Vista Equity Partners). In 2023, an HEC-Dow Jones Study ranked March Capital 7th globally among venture capital firms in aggregate performance for funds raised between 2009-2018. On February 3rd, 2023, March Capital announced the close of Fund IV for $650M+.

Based on the strength of our values, March’s efforts now extend beyond our investment portfolio into our community, where we focus on youth development, broadening access to the innovation economy, and addressing the crises of public health, homelessness, and hunger in LA County through the March Capital Foundation.
